Peonia

Artist Statement

A Flower Story Immersed in the enchanting realms of decadence and symbolism, this digital art collection unveils the captivating myth of a majestic Nymph named Paeonia, whose ethereal beauty ensnared the attention of none other than the God Apollo. As the ancient tale unfolds, Apollo's gaze fell upon her, and in that fleeting moment, her cheeks flushed with a crimson hue, binding their fates together. Yet, in the realm of gods, love stories are often accompanied by abrupt and cruel conclusions. The ephemeral romance shared by Paeonia and Apollo met a tragic end. Aphrodite, the goddess of love, consumed by jealousy and fury, cast her wrathful gaze upon the love-struck Nymph and the divine God. In an instant of chaos and overwhelming emotion, she cursed Paeonia, transforming her into the flower known to all as the Peony. Legend has it that the Peonies' crimson hue mirrors the blush that once graced the Nymph's cheeks when her gaze met Apollo's. Each artwork within this collection encapsulates a microcosm of this brief yet profound love story, forever frozen in time. These paintings are imbued with hidden secrets, inviting viewers to unlock the mysteries surrounding this nymph and her final moments as a sentient being. In the words of Khalil Gibran Khalil, "But if you love and must needs have desires, let these be your desires: To melt and be like a running brook that sings its melody to the night. To know the pain of too much tenderness. To be wounded by your own understanding of love; And to bleed willingly and joyfully."
